Hello,

I have run into a small snag on my engine swap out project. I am trying to remove the drive gear that attaches to the crank shaft on the engine. I don't know what tool I need to remove the gear. This is the gear that attaches to the drive shaft. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to remove the gear, so I can put it on the new engine?

Hey try stuffing a rag into one of the exhaust ports. Make sure the rag goes through through the port, into the combustion chamber on top of the piston. This will keep the engine from turning over while you remove the flywheel nut & PTO coupler.
Remove the rubber boot from the PTO flywheel and use a pipe wrench to
remove it. Be careful not to damage the grease fitting. It can be removed if
necessary with a 7mm socket.

Drive gear on crank side of engine

Thanks, but I am trying to remove the gear that attaches to the drive shaft not the flywheel. Do you know how to get the drive gear off?

Damper....

The XP model has the damper. You'll have to remove the shock absorber from teh lower support, then, remove the bolt and lock nut on the bottm that holds it in. After its removed, you should just be able to pull it out. It may be seized in, so you may have to gently tap on it, from a couple directions to loosen it up. The part of the damper support on the front, is splined to the PTO flywheel.......
