Does anyone sell carbon ring removal tools for a 1996 speedster?

I’ve been searching online and canny find a seller that states the tool for a 1996 model or 717 engine ?

I’m new to these so I’m don’t know if one from a 2002 or 2004 or newer seadoo will work?
The ones I’m seeing all seem to be listed for newer models.

There isn't any special tools needed. I use a block of wood, and a tire spoon to push the stainless ring back. From there... just cut the old O-ring, or pop the C-clip off. (depending on what version you have) Then... the drive shaft can pull out the back. (once the pump is removed)

Oh... shooting some penetrating oil in behind the stainless ring will help it slide. Oh... if you had the O-ring holding the stainless ring in place... just replace it with a C-clip. (works better)

I saw those tools. The seller stated that it wouldn't necessarily work for a 1996 model.

Does it work on your 98 and if so, what engine is in the 98 SXi pro?

Thanks,

Donnie

I use it on all the Sea-Doos I work on, any year.
SXi Pro is a Kawasaki 750 stand-up.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I was able to get one side o ring pulled up and cut so I'll see how hard it is to get the new one back on using the penetrating lube/oil like Dr. Honda suggested.

If it's a big pain, I'll be purchasing one of those tools.

Check out this link...see where it says in description that it's for the 4 stroke models only?

This is why I hesitated after the seller said it would not work.

Removal Tool

Even has same OEM part number replacement...

I saw another blog where a guy made a tool out of wood. I tried it and it worked like a charm. Used a 1x6 that I cut a notch in to fit around the floating ring then cut a block of wood that I put between the engine and the notched piece of wood. It compressed the bellows enough to expose the o-ring
