Beginner wakeskater who has only attempted wakeskating but still can't get up on the board. Was trying behind about 50' foot of rope. I think a longer rope might make it easier and will try that next time.

Have seen all the youtube videos and other media. Looked easy there... Anyone have any beginner tips to get up?

Also, went to the beach during vacation a few days ago and tried surfing. Yeap, you guessed it. I could not get up on the surf board either.

We board behind a 75' rope behind our boat. Honestly I'd get a cheap wakeboard first. Learn how to do that first.
1. I would try just lining your skate up with the sea-doo.
2. The tip of the board has to be up in the air in the center of the rope.
3. Bend your knees tight to your chest and your shoulders, knees, ankles in a straight line behind/on top of the board. Bend your elbows and DONT PULL ON THE ROPE. Your arms should always be in the same position.
4. Now just sit in this position until the board comes up on plane. You can sit like this forever. Always keep more prominent weight on the rear foot.
5. Stand up and get ready to eat sh*t.

I would wakeskate around 18-22 mph. I would think the driver should only need to give 1/2 to 3/4 throttle to get you up.
Edit: I have also been around watersports all my life. Grew up boating once a week all summer. Been boarding for 5 or 6 years. I can get up one handed, board in line to boat, board perpendicular to boat, get up riding switch etc.

I've wakeskated behind a 06' gti 130... it can certainly be done. Ski's are probably a bit better to learn on as the wake is less intimidating...

For tips ...

#1 start with a wakeboard ... simple as that. Once you can get up on a wakeboard ... wakeskating is pretty easy.

Well, I think you guys have great advice although my wallet is pretty light at the moment. Lol!

I think I will look on Craigslist for a cheap wakeboard if I can't get up next weekend (assuming the wear ring is fixed but that is another story)... I have a knee board and was able to do that. A lot funner than I thought it would be.

I keep trying on the wakeskate. I have the starting position down but think I am not angling the board enough towards the water. It is kept horizontal to the water and creating too much drag.
