Do I need to pinch the water hose if one engine is down as I boat back to dock?

Regarding the info that you need to pinch the cool water hose if your being towed so you don't hydro lock your engine.

It occurred to me as I was limping back to the dock on one running engine, that the OFF engine was actually being towed by the good one...so should one clamp the hose of a non running engine if the boat is moving fwd under power of the good engine??
 
you should be fine if you were actually limping back at idle. I could be wrong but your manual should say at what speed it is required to pinch the line. if not just don't ever go fast with just the one engine and you'll be fine.
 
Slow speeds should be no issues. Higher than much off idle I would pinch it. Though I bet you can go something close to 15 MPH without pinching it.

I just have the mentality that pinching it can never hurt, not pinching it may hurt,,,,
