Disconnecting VTS (98 GSX Ltd) Lost Gauges

Hi all,

I disconnected my VTS module after a blown 5A MPEM fuse. Starts and runs normally now - though I lost my information center gauges, and I hear only the faintest beginning of a chirp when I plug in the DESS key. Is this normal? I disconnected the 6-pin VTS module connector as well as a 2-pin connector that also, according to the schematic, seems to be for the module.

Yes, very common for a bad VTS to fry the MPEM. Leave it unplugged and get a good used one from @Minnetonka4me

Thank you for the reply. I will do that. I actually have a spare MPEM I purchased recently on ebay, swapped it in with the same result. Is a non-working IC a pretty definitive sign that the MPEM is fried? If so I am going to try to return it.
