Anyone have this problem? I know there is a little piece that holds the buckets up. Would it mess anything up if I shaved it down a bit so I could change from F to N easier? or would that make the buckets easier to fall down while going full speed? ideas? challenger 1800

Have you tried lubing the cable?

Are you sure it's the latch catching? Watch it while someone shifts for you.

yes it seems to be maybe out of adjustment. It's adjustable down by the buckets just not sure if that would fix this problem. I put a new cable line in last year for it.

I would say you cable it starting to fail and one day it will break. If it's getting hard to shift I doubt lube will help since you probably have a slight bend in the cable right now. Mine was doing the same thing hard to move from from F - N lasted a fer more weeks and it bent by the levers when I was out on the water. Get a new one from SBT the cost is usually under $150 deliverd to your door. You will be amazed how easy it is to go from F - N. The cable is what 15 years old now?

I don't remember the adjustment being that hard. I gues an easy test for the cable would be just unhook it from the reverse assembly and try the lever. If its it real easy it has to be the locking system.
