Any body have any input on these different heads for the 951? One has a two angle squish band with the number 923920 stamped inside the water jacket, and the other has a single angle with the number 923580 stamped in it.
I had a cylinder head (not pictured) with the 923580 number that was machined and cut by SBT with a squish of about .100 - .103. It was cut so it had a wide outer band and a narrow inner band. That head warped, so I replaced it with an unmolested used head like the one in the pic with the two angle squish band and 923920 number. It measured even more squish clearance than the SBT one.
The extra angle must increase the volume of the chamber too, so I guess I lowered my compression by using that kind of head.
There was a noticeable loss of power after changing it. On the bright side though, I've had trouble free riding since, which has been about a year now and maybe 40-50 hours.
So, I'm thinking about trying the one with the 923580 number and single angle and restoring some power. Anyone know why there are these two different styles of heads for the 951?
