In 2011 a friend of mine got a good deal on a new 2009 GTX / trailer combo (old inventory). Long story short, another friend and I picked up the same Doo/ trailer combo at the same price. One of the three had a serious timing chain issue last fall and when picked up from the repair, the independent mechanic (not dealership) said that the wrong shaft had been installed at the factory. Rather than stainless steel of a larger diameter, it is a smaller diameter steel shaft with a plastic??? coating. The mechanic said if you make it 300 hours you are lucky. I'm at around 250 hours. My friend pulled the rubber boot/ deflector up near where the shaft exits the hull and said I have the same "wrong" shaft.

Does anyone have any knowledge as regards the proper shaft for a 2009 GTX and what the deal is with what I detailed above as regards Bombardier using "inferior" shafts on some of their units.

I'm happy to hear knowledgeable voices on this issue!

TIA,
