Did I forget to put my O-Ring on my cone after rebuild?

Hey all!

First post here, but have been a lurker for a few months.

I purchased a 97 speedster 2 months ago. Ran like crap in the water.

With the help of posts on this forum, I was able to locate and replace bad bearings and wear rings for both jet pumps.

Everything was going great, got the cones on - filled with oil - and did pressure test. Held 10 PSI for 10 minutes each.

I then went though the box of parts I ordered, and found 3 other cone o-rings. While I thought I remembered installing the cone o-rings, I can not say for positive that I did get them changed out. I know the guy sent me some extra parts, but having 3 left over, means he sent me 5 of them.

So now I am a little worried that one or both of them have no o-ring, and really dont want to disassemble everything again.

My question is - would the pressure test fail if there was no oring? I did put 518 on the cone and jet mating surface, would that allow the pressure to hold without the ring?

Is there any other way of telling if it may be missing, other than calling me a dumbass and telling me to drain and check them both again? :)

Thanks!

Yes, the pressure test would fail with no cone "O" ring. The kits you purchased may just have had extra parts for other pumps. That being said, personally I would probably go back and check just to make sure.

BTW, welcome to the Seadoo forum.

Thanks Lou!

And yah I keep going back and forth on checking it or not.

Would need new tubes of loctite blue and red, then drain the cone, just to check. Plus have to do this in a driveway in 115 degree temps. Would really prefer to not re check but also would rather not get fried bearings! :)

Thanks for the welcome too!
