Diagnosing some electrical

I was looking at my shop manual and trying to diagnose my speedometer and fuel gauge.

In the manual, it gives this description to check the fuel gauge:
PURPLE/PINK
and Black.

Not entirely sure what that means - but am I right in assuming that I should probe both the purple and black for 12v and then the pink and black for 12v? Cause I got 12v off the purple one but nothing on the pink one.

And for the beeper it indicated:
PURPLE/RED
and PURPLE/BLACK

Second question:
My speedster didn't come with a stereo, but was thinking of adding one. I opened up the cooler compartment and noticed there was a connector in there that was zip tied to the boat. Is this the wire harness where I could just plug in a deck to - but I'd have to run my own speaker wire?

Thanks for all the great info. I went to post this question this morning, but 6 hours later I finally got around to posting cause I've been doing so much reading on this forum!

Easy way to test is turning on nav lights, assuming the lights in the gauges work, that will let u know if its a power issue or a sensor issue. Not the most reliable test but its an easy 1 to try
