I'm curious if anyone out there has even contemplated a conversion/modification from the old DESS post system to the new RFID ball post system? Is it even possible or realistic to consider? Not really sure myself but I think the ball post might be molded into the ski body parts (so may not even be a separate "part" per se)....but that never stops fabricators from doing any frankenstein mods.....any thoughts on this?

Would/could a RFID ball post even work with an older MPEM system??????

I’m about 90% positive that the older DESS equipped MPEM’s cannot talk to the RFID posts. Could be wrong, but I don’t believe the actual software in the older units is compatible...

Yeah, I wasn't sure where the actual "circuitry actually resides.....so, my RFID keys communicate directly with my ski MPEM (wirelessly) and the ball post is just the attachment point.

The DESS post is actually a wired device that mates with the lanyard/cap key.....I haven't peeked yet but is the ball post wireless (I would assume so), so not really do-able....just a random thought of the day.

Would be nice to get rid of the dess keys and cross connect all the skis through RFID....ehhhh, just keep buying newer skis I guess, haha!
