I had install a Lowrance Elite 4 as gps and depth sounder. I put the tranducer at the back on the bottom starboardside of the engine. I tried it yerterday: where the map was indicate 6 feet the Lowrance was indicate 1.1 foot...So where is the best place for to install this transducer?;)

I have the Speedster with a lowrance. I tried installing it in two different spots. I get a good read from in front of the starboard engine mount (bow-end). I can't remember what the epoxy / silicone stuff was but it was supposed to help signal strength. You can also increase the ping rate and sonar strength on some Lowrance models to help depth accuracy.

Hi Lapnor,
I glued my sensor into the hull and it works fine. You should use some Epoxy for having a good connecting to the hull than the signal is good enough. Even the fish-finder is working properly with my device. For having the correct depth you have to set-up a correction value. But I operate my one with the deep under the keel because I would like to know the clearance left below my keel. Just the temperature sensor doesn't show the right value so you have to correct the settings there also. Even after this it needs a couple of minutes until there is a true temperature shown up, but it works somehow.
In the link below you can see my installation.

Regards
Ingo
