I used a Garmin DV45 chartplotter. It's perfect for these smaller boats as the screen is vertical. Comes with a depth sonar transducer that's easily mounted on the transom.
I mounted the chartplotter in the cup holder near the dash. Remove the cup itself and replaced it with a white 4" PVC threaded end cap(with female end connector), you find at any plumbing aisle. You can trim the PVC with a saw off the 2" square end of the cap, and remove the excess material of the female end connector. You only need the threaded portion of this connector
The threaded ring is the awkward part to tighten as there very little space for your hand to squeeze into, but it's do-able. The deck mount supplied by Garmin can be screwed to the PVC end cap, then wires simply thread through for a professional clean installation.
I'm really impressed with the Garmin chartplotter resolution, with amazing detail of base charts, and responsiveness for something in the $300 to $400 range. I have a $1200 Raymarine chartplotter on my sailboat and it just barely does the same as what this Garmin can do.
