So here's the story. Salt water, stainless, and aluminum don't mix. I have a broken head bolt that snapped off flush with the cylinder. I have soaked it with PB blaster and tried an easy-out, but no luck. Tried to drill it but that stainless bolt is tough and is eating drill bits. I would like to repair it, but how? Compression was dead even on each cylinder so I would like to keep my exact parts, but would it be easier to buy a used cylinder? Or could I take it to a shop and have them drill and tap it? Cylinder is out for ease of repair. Does anyone have a good used 787 cylinder for sale? Any ideas?

Thanks

A machine shop with the correct tools could pop that outa there and probably only charge you 25-50 bucks.

Try that route first before trying to replace parts.

agreed a machine shop will handle that task no problem. If they have to go bigger they might just helicoil the piece they drill out. Take it to them if you have already tried yourself and haven't had any luck. Money well spent in the long run.

Thanks

I got a chance to call around to a couple machine shops. A couple of shops said they could take care of it. $40-60 and if need be, they would put in a helicoil.

Thanks for the replies.
