Lovin the Challenger 180SE, love the bimini on the hot days - bit of a pain up and down (not really - but trying to keep the admiral happy)

I've seen a bunch of videos showing people running pretty fast with their bimini's up - I'm visualizing mine shredding at anything above 20 mph.

Manual not real specific.

Anybody tempted fate?

Thanks

I run full throttle with mine up all the time. BUT... it really slows the boat down. (it's a big parachute)

Me too. Slows the boat down but also increases hang time if you jump a wake.

Mine has been ripped after coming loose and dragging a couple miles on the highway. Patched it up and it is still holding at full throttle.

Bimini top

I just installed one on my boat and like you it turned in to a must have to keep the Admiral happy. It does make a big big difference. Kids aren't out in the hot sun all day.

So far I putzed around 15 or 20. I don't think I'd try it full throttle. It only takes a minute or two to get it up and down so we'd rather be safe than sorry,

The top that comes with the challenger 180 SE has a warning that says not to exceed 35mph.

Not sure if mine is a stock one or something a previous owner put on, but it is QUITE sturdy.

It is a bit low and just barely clears my head.

I have also used it to tie on wakeboards and surfboards, and still full throttle with it up.

my wife is WHITE. Not caucasian, but one of those white-skinned redheads :hat: So we need to keep her out of the sun as much as possible.

This is a pic when Karl still owned it, before it hit the road and ripped.

More recent pic... From the side so you can see it sits pretty low. And darker patchwork repairs on driver side.

Mine is much taller. I can almost stand under it.

Just an FYI... if you add the 2 rear suports... it makes if a VERY quick proses to just flip it back, and out of the way.

i have 2010 sea doo challenger 180 anyone know where i can buy a good after market one for a good price or a good used one. I see them all over for the older 180's on ebay but only the 09's and 10's will fit this years. I dont think the 08's will fit mine because it has the full glass wrap around windshield..

I ran my boat wide open once with the top up and it straightened the front tie down hooks. I guess 60 is a little fast for the top haha. I keep it down to around 30 now.

I run my 180 full tilt with the bimini up all the time, never had a problem, here in AZ you'll flash fry w/o it!
The thing that angers my 'Admiral' is not the position of the bimini...
it's RUNNING FULL THROTTLE, so keeping her happy protects my equipment at the same time...life's funny like that!
