Crankshaft housing pitting in rotax valve

I have a 95 speedster with the twin 657x rotax motors in it. I am rebuilding one of them and found that the lower case housing is pitted in the rotary valve area. As I've been reading I know the importance of the surface of the cover and the valve itself being smooth and skuff free, but have not found any thing about the housing itself. I would assume it would be the same but wanted to check before getting a new housing or getting it resurfaced. Thanks for the help

I’m honestly not sure on that one... If you weren’t rebuilding, I’d tell you to slap a valve in it and go, but I’d hate to put a fresh motor back together with that pitting there... I’m sure it could be resurfaced, but I don’t know whether it’s worth the effort rather than picking up some used cases that are in better shape. Hopefully one of the other guys will step in and give you some insight...
