So I split the case yesterday and noticed that the po didn't use any sealant when he or someone else rebuilt the motor I was running lean determined from the piston damage could the cases not having sealant caused it to leak I know your supposed to lay bead all the way around the case before bolting it together ,I'm so frustrated the whole engine is destroyed but it's my fault for not compresion testing this disaster before I bought it!!!!!:banghead:

I`ve used Threebond 1211

Yes that would leak and run lean. 1211 or any other brand case sealant will work in a pinch. Don't over coat it but apply to both surfaces evenly.

Ok thanks I was going to rebuild it myself but when I did the math it made sense to just get an sbt remanufactured engine hopefully they seal it up good, but good info to know for the future!

LOL, they'll put enough on to choke a horse. Too much IMO.

SBT- I would run the other way even if they were handing them out for free. Just my opinion ;)
