Crank Bearing 0-Ring question

I need some help...

I am replacing the crank ball bearings on my 1991 SP and in the shop manual it has 0-rings that go in a groove on the bearing it looks like. My current bearings that are in the seadoo do not have the grooves. They were replaced at some point. You can tell work was done on the bottom end. Anyway, what are the 0-rings for? The seadoo has been running without them just fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Bearings....

If your bearings now don't have the cut grooves, then assemble it as it was.

The cut grooves and "0" rings were part of the OEM installation when manufactured. There have been several changes since the 587cc was first built. The original components now are long gone. The builds done now are with aftermarket parts that meet OEM specifications. So, with these changes, there will be some things you no longer need. The best improvement is going to caged wrist pin bearings. You no longer have to stack them in, one at a time with greasy fingers.
