the engine i built and now have in my seadoo has a plastic screw in plug with (o ring that came in gaket kit). i've been gathering parts and have almost enough to build a spare engine.the block that i picked up is still blanked over (original). does any one know where to get the plug and do you only have to drill and tap housing? not sure if there is countersink for head of plug. my other motor is in the machine and its stored away hard to get at to have a look:hat:.

Tap....

What you see is just a molded part of the casing. You would have to tap it out to install a plug. The older model 787's didn't have a fill plug. I have never checked mine and from what I gather, in the past, this oil wasn't checked except when doing a rebuild.

There is a hole for filling this with one ounce of 30 weight oil on the rear side of the casing, accessible from the PTO cylinder area. Robin Savell Lloyd posted a pix of this and we debated it a while back. I think his idea on this thread has a lot of weight in maintaining this oil system in the cogged gears.
