Correct wire on 97 Speedster for hour meter

Found out my beast has 227hrs on her and am ready to install a hour meter.
Should I use the purple wire that feeds the fuel/oil gauge like suggested in the 97 Challenger post?

Yes, because it is directly connected to the DESS to keep track of Running hours.
