cooling system issue.

I have a spigot that enters into the jet pump on my boat that was damaged, bought the new part, and now I am not able to screw the new one in. How deep into the assembly are the threads? If there is any plastic in there would using an easy-out type tool damage anything? Also, when I tried to screw the new spigot in, it felt like there was rubber or something like it preventing me from pushing it in all the way to the threads.

NOTE: I do have another thread, but it it is about an oil injection issue that I had. I apologizes to the mods if this thread is improper.
 
If it's the tube that is threaded into the pump for the cooling water... it should thread in about 2/3". The old one shouldn't be that tight. Find a flat screwdriver that will fit snug... and push it in... and turn out the old part.
 
The problem is that a piece of the threads from the tube is stuck inside. I have tried everything I can think of to get it out, but not even the specialized tool (easy out) works. Although, what gets me is that only half of the threads on the old tube were broken, thus half of the threads are still in the hole. Yet, when I went to thread the new tube, it felt like there were no threads at all. I am thinking of going crazy with 5200 sealant rather than trying to repair the threads. Thoughts?
 
I'm pretty sure the DRHonda was suggesting that you use a flat head screwdriver to remove the part of the old tube that is stuck inside... sort of like an ez-out.
Why don't you post some pictures so we can better understand the situation and give relevant suggestion?
 
Well, I am flat out of ideas. The easy out will not work, the screwdriver will not work, and the globs of 5200 won't keep it in due to the water pressure simply blowing it out of the hole. Any workarounds?
 
Post a pic. When the old one blew out, did it mash up the threads in the pump?

My model has no spigot, just an o-ring to seal the inlet to the shoe.
 
I used a 1/4" pipe nipple coated with some 5 minute epoxy. Threaded it in, waited for it to harden...

I should have checked the system first but I believe it was damaged before I ever bought the boat. I think that I will try the epoxy/5200 system one last time.

The easy out isn't going to work.

The tapper, and the teeth on the tool will force the plastic part to expand, and get CRAZY tight. The harder you turn... the tigher it will get. (think of a Chinese finger trap)

The flat screwdriver will bite... but it won't try to expand as you turn.


Unless someone glued it in... it shouldn't be stuck. (plastic doesn't corrode like metal)

Now that I see you tried to use glue... all you can do is drill it, and run a tap into it. (or buy another pump)
