I have a 93 XP 650. Long story short, one of oil lines fell off the motor and smoked my top end. Has anybody converted their oil injected seadoo to run premix? How easy is it? The top end is currently being rebuilt and I think converting it to run premix will give me more peace of mind. Any info will be much appreciated! Thanks Guys.

Hey XPBoy. There are soooooooo many opinions on this subject. For what it's worth I'll tell ya what I think. I'm a fan of the oil injection system. It works off the throttle to change the oil mix in the gas accordingly. These engines were built for that. It is also the most economical way to use your oil and as expensive as it is I don't wanna keep dumping oil in my gas for nothing. Also, I don't wanna have to measure out a certain amount of oil every time I fill up my gas tank. There is always that chance of something going wrong with anything but with the proper maintenance to your system most can be prevented.

I did, with my 96' sportster. you'll hear different opinions, but know'n oil is their, present, peace of mind. Ordered the block-off kit, with motor out, 10min,....or you can plug up the lines, only prob I have with that, is you leave the plastic gear in there, behind the intake plate...

how much was that block off kit? is plugging all the oil lines running to the motor the easiest way? Thanks

Check it out on SBT.com. You could just pull the pump and remove the pump shaft, put pump back on and leave lines hooked up from reservoir tank for the rotary shaft which still will need oil.

Thats how I'd do it.....

:agree:, in the past, thats how I've done it. Just remove the teflon shaft, put the pump back on, and it's done. You may want to keep the shaft, in case you want to hook it back up again.

so what you're saying is that you cant completely cut all the factory oil lines from the motor and run the ski like a 2 stroke dirt bike, quad, or a 440 race sled.

Thanks for all the quick replies guys! Ive been reading other threads about premix and it sounds like all i have to do is remove the shaft inside the oil pump and put the oil pump back on, and leave the main oil lines that go into the motor in place for the rotary valve, but im still not possitive.

Correct.........

Your very correct...........I think you got it now.

The rotary must be lubricated. You don't have to keep more than half your oil tank, if that. Just enough to keep the oil warning light off. You'll only use a tiny amount, seeping through seals while set up, but probably not have to put any more oil in it.........it's just for lubrication.
