Convert DI to CARB

Has anyone converted a DI ski to CARB rather than fixing it?

are the engines similar enough?

I'm looking for a 01 RX Carb and can only find the DI ones...

can you just remove all that stuff and it would work (adding carbs obviously) or is it too different?

Just curious...

Can't say I've heard of anyone doing it... but I'm sure it's possible. BUT... remember... you will need a new MEPM also, since that one thinks it's controlling a fuel injection system.

I guess if I was going to do it... I would buy a stand-alone ignition system to make it easy, and ditch the MPEM.

BUT... if you buy a Di ski... why not just run it that way until there is a problem?? They are very reliable... it's just hard/expensive to fix once they have an issue.

a friend of mine, wanted to do this, but the engines are different, (injectors), 1 has a 5 port sleeve - di -- and carb eng i believe has a 6 port sleeve

even if the MPEM thinks it's controlling the injectors, and you remove them...? I guess it would throw an error code?

No, I agree, if it works, run it until otherwise, I've just never had a DI ski, I've ridden them, they seem quieter, and accelerate very smoothly, and start easily! I just worry about expensive repairs...

how many hours are on the rxdi's that you are looking at? I have almost 200 hours on mine and have never had a problem with the DI. Also it gets better fuel milage than my gsx limited (carb) that also has the 951.

If you wanted to trick the computer... measure the resistance on a known good injector, then replace the injector with the equivilant resistor. I have little experience with the 951 or DI but i dont think a different head would affect much...if you have the parts, it may be an interesting conversion for a rainy day. And if it doesnt work, just swap it back to DI
