While sitting in my garage, by 95 sportster starts buzzing...a continuous steady beeeeeeep. I tried disconnecting the temp sensor connection on the engine, but the beeeeeep continues.

If it was a faulty sensor, shouldn't the beeeeep stop once I disconnect it from the engine? Or am I mistaken?

What else could this steady beeeeep be? I end up having to disconnect the battery to make it stop. Could it simply be a faulty horn assembly?

Also, I can start the engine while the horn is still beeping.

Would the short also explain why my fuel gauge comes on as soon as I connect the battery, even without the key or lanyard connected?

Why is it that once I disconnect the battery for a period of time, and then reconnect it, the buzzing will stop. After a couple of hours the buzzing starts again. Does it take time for the "heat" to build in the wires??

Is there anything I could do to ensure that it is, in fact, a short?
