I recently purchased a 2007 GTI SE and currently have 12 hours on it. How does the hour meter readout get power to remain in the memory with the battery disconnected? If I remove the battery for the winter, what "holds" the recorded hours on the meter? There must be a watch size battery someplace in the console??? The owner's manual does not mention such a battery.

The hour memory is kept in the MPEM,( Multi Purpose Electronic Module) it keeps all the tuning specs and all electrical information for the dealer to use if you have a electrical problem or tuning problem, and of coarse the communication to the DESS lanyard also. Only a seadoo dealer can access or change the info.

OK. So if I disconnect/remove the battery for the winter, none of the info in the MPEM will be lost and I don't have to be concerned with some small watch battery holding the MPEM memory without the main battery installed. Right?

That concrete thing doesn't apply anymore...batteries aren't like ones from 20 years ago. The ground conditions won't effect them.

Thank you! This forum is great. However, since following it, I have become more confused about another subject, winterization. I'll ask that under a new inquiry. Thanks again!

Well maybe not in florida it doesnt cause of your warmer climate. Every one ive ever left on the floor had been sucked dry...

I'm a battery retailer/ wholesaler for 30 years. It is a myth that the battery will go bad sitting on anything. Search the subject under my name or seadoosnipe...lots of battery information...not lies or myths.
