Anyone know if this is something that can be purchased at a local auto parts store like Autozone or Advance Auto Parts? If so, what tool am I asking for?

I'm talking about the tool that will disconnect the actual wire from the plastic housing on the connectors. I tried gently pulling but it wouldnt give and didnt wanna break it.

don't pull, you'll just muck it up.

you want a weatherpack tool.

(note, i've broken about 3 of these, the ones above are more sturdy but offer less options)

i think the 'tube' is 3mm but don't quote me on that....

note: i've taken a pic of the bottom one to autozone and they looked at me like I had 3 heads, but i've been told its a regular item, used on GM products, if the guy at the desk was old and had a beard, then autozone probably would have had it in stock, but the young guy i talked to said "never seen anything like that in this store" i just gave up and ordered 3 of the yellow ones online.

if you need one "like now" in a pinch you can see if your local ACE has aluminum or brass tubing for sale, bring a connector and find the right size.

rumor is you can also make these from disassembling a standard ball point pen.

but at $5.00 i might get one ;)

when I found them for $5 i just went ahead and ordered 3, kept one and gave two away to friends.

re: ball point pen... actually thats pretty much the right size... it just might work, but you'll need a real stiff one
