Connector / Harness Part Number ? ........THINK I FOUND 'EM "DEUTSCH"

Does anyone know what this connector is? Please see the picture I attached to this post
I stumbled across this randomly.....

I have a regular old 2005 Sportster 4-TEC.

There is a female wire connector that comes out near the top rear of the engine that must have touched the HOT engine and MELTED the insulation off the 3 wires.

The boat ran fine last time my wife used it. It starts fine and idles on the trailer.

I'm afraid to put it back in the water before I know what this is...

I think it may be a sensor for EMISSIONS?

It looks like the part is relatively inexpensive when I look online.

I have not disassembled the wire bundles yet but it appears that this may go back up to the VOLTAGE REGULATOR

I replaced the VOLTAGE REGULATOR 3 years ago because I MADE A MISTAKE and connected the battery charger while the battery was in the boat without disconnecting the battery cables... The VOLTAGE REGULATOR caused the boat to CUT OUT weirdly anything past idle....

I attached the pictures of the frayed wires, they are too close to re-splice inside the connector and I have to replace it.

I attached the harness graphic and a random website that seems to have all of the parts to it but I cannot be sure which part or Parts I need to fix this thing.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully

TravisC

That's the plug coming from your stator that goes to your rectifier. I had a similar problem last year when the terminals in the plug got corroded & generated excessive heat.
I was able to replace the wires & re-install them in the plug. If you do a search on here - you will find a full write up from someone that helped my out a lot.
Good Luck!

I just looked at your pics again & the issue is on the rectifier side. Those wires are long enough to trim them back & re-install in the plug. Your stator should be fine. Or you can buy the new wire assemble & replace it.

Oops!

I broke the orange plastic cover off the end of the connector while I was trying to get the wires out...

Didn't really take any force, the connector must have really experienced some serous heat to be that brittle.

Now i definitely need a new connector(s).

It looks like it might be parts 360,370,440 ?

I really wish to just remove the entire plug to plug connection.

Any suggestions

I'm not sure if that's the right one - may also be 470, 480, 940.
I also don't know how to order the plug / wire assy to replace as a full unit. I remember wanting to do the same thing, but choose to just shorten the wires instead.
You may need to call a dealer to find out how to order the wire assembly.

I think I found them

I think I found them

The trick was to use the search term

Deutsch DT 3 Pin Connector

specifically the word

DEUTSCH

and results come up everywhere

Google, ebay and amazon

Now I just don't know which one to use

The GOLD plated connector OR the Nickel Plated connector??

Factory are probably nickel plated, but not sure. I don't think there would be any benefit to using gold plated in this application. Those wires are transferring AC voltage to the rectifier to be converted into DC voltage to power the electronics & charge the battery.

Yes it worked/works

YES IT WORKED/WORKS

I finally got the garage cleaned out Jan 2014...

The DESS seemed to 'Kill' the system when I tried to fire it without that plug connected.

I pulled the 3 wires out of the bundles back to the rectifier...

I crimped on the new pins with the rubber seals

Plugged it up...

Bingo!

ALL GOOD

Thanks again.. You guys in this forum are awesome.
