Hi All,

This is my first jet boat and I am confused and worry. I just purchased a 1998 sea-doo challenger 1800 with the two 110-hp rotax engines, the previous owner has been using Quicksilver Premium 2-cycle outboard oil that has the symbol (NMMA TC-W3 certified) on the bottle. Since the symbol said certified is this same as (NMMA TC-W3 outboard oil)?. I read in the challenger 1800 manual it stated that never use NMMA TC-W3 or ashless oil. Anyone on this forum have used this Quicksilver Premium 2-cycle outboard oil with the NMMA TC-W3 certified symbol on the bottle in your sea-doo jet boat please let me know. My main question is what should I do now since the previous owner been using this type of oil in the engines? thanks for your help.

Oil Oil every where....

If you read more on the bottle it should state that the oil exceeds the recommendations needed for Seadoos. I use quicksilver, I was using a different brand but this forum told me other wise. I had to drain the old oil, unless you know the only oil beinging used was quicksilver. I am sure other people on this forum might disagree but I don't know how much of it matters on a 96 speedster, or 98 in your case.

The old oil debate again

Sea Doo two stroke engines require LOW ASH not ASHLESS (NO ASH) oil. TCI-W3 is the wrong oil, drain it and switch to genuine Sea Doo 2-Stroke oil.

Probalby the only damage done is some clogging of the rotary valve and piston gunking which may go away. Depends on how many hours.
