Hi All

can anyone confirm if this is an electric oil pump on my 2002 Speedster with the Mercury 240 EFI.

Also can i use normal 2 stroke oil, such as the Valvoline TC-W3 link as below

Yep... that's the oil pump. AND... and TC-w3 oil will work in that engine.

Thanks for confirmation as I have been reading the various horror stories re then plastic drive gear on some models and I assume the electric pump is reliable and if not I would replace it.

yes... the electric pump is reliable. Any issues are from lack of maintenance or neglect. (plugged filters, or rotten hoses) or forgetting to put oil in the tank. LoL

Thanks again and hopefully all will be good and it's a strong engine with excellent compression. I have been right through the boat to include a full strip and rebuild of the jet pump. My remaining item to repair is the steering assist as it will raise the rpm on full lock, but won't reduce it when the steering is returned to the centre position. Any advice is welcome.
