I have a 1997 seadoo gtx with the 787 cc engine. it has been running good for me all season. I did a compression check on the engine and the cylinder towards the front of the seadoo is reading about 147 psi but the back cylinder is reading about 141 psi. I suspect I may have carbon buildup in the back cylinder. Is there something I can add to the gas to clear the carbon out?

that compression is fine. Pull RAVES, clean them, also..when doing compression test, should do each barrel 3 times..also, hold throttle wide open too.

I realize that the compression is still pretty good for a 12 year old seadoo. I would rather have the compression as close to equal as possible. Sometimes carbon buildup can cause compression issues which is why I was asking if there is some kind of additive which would allow me to get rid of the carbon buildup in the cylinders that would be safe for a 2 stroke if it exists.

I know some people use to put a little bit of dextron 2 into a tank of gas to help clean out the carbon. Other people use to inject water into the carb as a method of cleaning out carbon. Still others used to spray carb cleaner into the carbs as a method to clean out carbon. I personally have used the water injection and carb cleaner method on older carbureted cars I have had in the past. However these were 4 stroke engines. I dont know if this would work very well on a 2 stroke engine. Any suggestions?

I cleaned the rave valves in august.
