Coast Guard Rules

Does anyone know where to find the rules for max weight or persons. I was wondering what to use weight or people? We take allot of small kids with us and get no where near the max weight. But if they went by people we would be over allot.

I think you need to go by what the label on your boat states. If it is 1200 lbs or 8 people. That is exacly what it means.....8 people is the max or if you have 6 people that weigh 1200 lbs you are also maxed.

Thanks for the info guys. I thought that's how it was, doesn't make cense always though. When I have a bunch of kids on board I would have plenty of room and weight but those are the rules I guess. My boat ia rated for 12 people and 2500# that's a lot of kids :)

I think with 11 other screaming kids is plenty anyway... I couldn't image having 15 screaming rug rats together on a boat...limits for a reason besides safety...sanity :ack:
