Clinging noise

96 Speedster, I was going WOT for about 3 minutes then went back to idle and noticed weird noise from starboard engine. Let the boat sit while grilled out food and then got in it, the sound still there and went for a test, boat goes without any problems no power loss at all but the sound is still there. The best way to describe the sound is: metallic sound when the engine is running on land, which both engines have it on land. When i lower boat in water one of them disappears while the starboard continues to make it in the water. I'm leaning towards pump, but wanted to get other ideas of what to check.

Most likely the pump bearings. And if so, they must be pretty bad as once in the water, the load of the impeller makes it all go away,,

That looks like a leaking gasket to me.

Had that happen just recently. I thought of driveline also, but it only made the noise while running, not while on the starter, and it varied when lowering speed...

It's not a terrible job, but it is a bit of work. Good Luck on it.
