Cleaning carbs

Can I safely soak my carbs in Gunk carb cleaner without fear of dissolving something vital? Not sure how strong the stuff is but you would think it would be ok if it is designed for it. Maybe I should just soak them in gasoline. I am soaking the carb filters in Greased Lightning from Walmart. Someone on here told me to try it and so far it is working really well. I was thinking about soaking the entire carb in that but I am kinda afraid of that to since I know a jet will not run on it.

the only thing I know is that carb cleaner will eat the paint off and you'll need to repaint to keep them from corroding in the wet environment. I just did mine and simply used compressed air and spray carb cleaner to clean the passages and I think it worked ok--though I'll put 'er in the water tomorrow am to check.
