I want to replace my 1996 GSX hoses and clean the carb filter. Can I do that without removing the carbs from the engine?

You don't have to remove the carbs to change hoses. But if you are cleaning the carb filters you will have to remove the carbs from the engine. It is easier to replace the fuel hoses on the carbs themselves out of the hull anyway.

The way the GSX carb is positioned in the hull, would would be working blind the entire time with the exhaust pipe in the way.

On the 717 engines the carbs are more on top and easier to get to. Even then, I tried to remove the filter on the front carb with it ON the engine and that was okay. But I ended up removing the rear carb because there was no space to get a screwdriver in between the carbs.

I still ended up removing the carbs to rebuild them after cleaning the filters. So it was a lot easier to deal with them on the bench.....wish I had done that the first time.

Aren't the filters part of the rebuild kits?

If you need new filters, you probably need a rebuild while you are at it...
