Choke Cable Issue

Hi there,

I have a 97 Bombardier XP. I am having an issue with the choke. The cable running through the choke butterfly doesn't seem to have any adjustments. It seems to be running through a solid nut attached to the butterfly arm. There are no screws or grub screws. I can see the solid choke cable running through the nuts but I cannot undo them. When the choke is at full OFF position, the butterfly's are still 3/4 closed. I am wondering if it has had the wrong choke cable installed but I cannot undo the cable from the butterflies to change it. ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Jeff

That rod is held in place with 2 very small allen head set screws (one on each carb) on the flat underside of that brass nut it goes through. Be very careful not to lose them when you loosen them...you do not need to completely remove them. You will have to do it my feel so be careful.

Thankyou very much mate! (and for the quick reply)! You are a genius. As this is my first jet ski, I have found this site to be of great help. I am quite competent at mechanics re: mainly motorbikes but this jet ski has had me stumped! I thought that is what it looked like, but I was only using a mirror to see and it didn't look as if it was an allen key, so thanks again, am trying to fix this problem right now. See you around the boards, and again thankyou! :)

Regards

1.) spray it down with a bit of lube before you try to dislodge them. If at first they don't come loose, try loosening, and tightening, until you get them loose.

2.) cover the allen screws with grease, AFTER making all your adjustments. This will help keep corrosion out of them. Cover them all over, so no water can get back in anywhere. If they ever need adjusted, or removed, things will go a bit better.

Not critical, but generally useful.

Be very very very very careful those things are teeny tiny and are easy to lose. I've never dropped on but I heard about it.;)
