CHK ENG indication

I own 2 2002 GTX 4 TEC's. Both have been intermittently displaying CHK ENG. I get a 2 second beap. Coolant and oil levels are OK and as far as I can tell, they are not overheating. At least there is no boil over from the reservoir.
Do I need the vehicle communication kit to display any fault codes?
It also seems odd that both are doing the same thing, maybe this is something common and/or simple to resolve?

Yes you need the VCK and the B.U.D.S.,( Bombardier Utility Diagnostic System). It is only available from the seadoo dealer. It will show the fault codes. Then the dealer has to use the same software to clear the codes after the repair.

You can't buy the kit...only seadoo dealers have the kit. If you could it is like $4000.00 I have been told.
