You need to add your model and year to your avatar so we know what seadoo you have and what to recommend.

You can't bypass the lanyard to the mpem to see if it starts...that's why it is called a DESS,(Digital Security System). It keeps anyone from bypassing it, and stealing your machine.

92' DESS Lanyard?

The 92' didn't have that security device yet...?
I just clip on a standard lanyard over the pop-up button.
Can even just hold it down,. to test - start.
I also did check the handle-bar kill switch..checked out OK.

Thx again

yes you can

First if you are not getting any juice to the system at all, check your tether switch. See if the sealed waterproof switch directly under the plunger has slid out of the metal frame and is misaligned with the plunger. Ultimately this was my problem. I did what your asking by accident thinking I was working on the kill switch. Open your electrical box. Follow your wires from the tether cord. I believe they are black and yellow black in color. Disconnect the 2 wires after they enter the box. 1 will be a male conector and the other a female connector of course. when you have disconnected both wires you will see that the arrangement will allow you to in essence bypass the switch loop. The end of the switch wires will have 1 male and 1 female. The wires on the innards of the box will be 1 male and 1 female. Connect the 2 wires from the innards. Your switch is bypassed. Great for diagnostics bad for safety on the water. Good luck!!

By-Pass test

Thanks,...I'll try that after work.
The thought occured to me when I was towing the spark-less machine 150miles back home....lol.

Oh well,..can't say the ol' SP hasn't been a champ since I bought it in 92'.
Looking for lots of more good times......

Good deal. I'm in the middle of seal carrier thru hull fitting replacement as we speak.Been there done that?

Seal Carrier

Nope..most major work was prop replacement.
The ol' Chiltons manual walked me through it,..NP

MPEM was it

Received a tip on the "boards" here to try disconnecting the MPEM lead to the coil..to test for spark.
I removed the red/black line & BAM! spark was present.
Don't think I can just operate it with the lead unhooked...lol.
Guess I'm shopping the Net' for a MPEM now.........

Thx for the tips though.!
By all means...
An ""aftermarket" MPEM found on the Net' looks best option so far....
Any other Tips?..I'm always open.....

THX,
