I just took it out and it was very easy to do, here is a pic. Don't you think this could cause cavitation? Is'nt it bad to have rust inside of impeller shaft and at the end of the drive shaft like that also?

who cares about the rust? look at those lead edges. that is a water pump-not a gravel crusher. shut it off BEFORE you hit the shore! now go buy a new impeller. do NOT have that one reconditioned. decent used are cheap on eBay.

I don't beach the ski, the guy that had it before me knew absolutely nothing about them and that is the way I bought it. I have already bought and installed a new wear ring and impeller.

It looks like you have a brand new wear ring with a very bad impeller that is missing the boot off of it. It allso looks like you may have to much play in the impeller shaft bearings as it looks like it is cuting into the wear ring. Photos are deceiving and I can also be wrong about that bearing comment. As I have read that that a impeller may need to seat it self into a new wear ring. I have read to use wd40 on the new wear ring on the first start up just incase it dose have to seat it self.

I am sure that every one knew that, as it does not look like a new impeller. but that wear ring looks new with that bad impeller. Did someone try to save money? or did that damage happen after new wear ring?
