i have a 96 seadoo gts with the white 587,anyway i've had a ton of prob's all starting from the stator,i've replaced the stator, rectifier and ecm which the ecm was $388.00!!!! i put it in and it fried to,then i found out the stator caused all of this.so earlier today i was frustrated and pissed and manualy turned it over from the silonoid and to my complete suprise it fired right up,and mind u this thing has sat for 2 yrs,so i checked everything out hooked up water and ran it for about 20 mins then gave her a few revs.i made a temp ''ghetto'' start switch for it just to get it out on the water now my main concern is will it charge with the 5amp blown and the red/blk wire unhooked from the ecm to the rectifier?

not sure,i started it 4-5 times and ran it solid for 20 mins and it still felt fully charged my ohm meter's busted so i cant check it but if i had to guess i'd say it's chargeing

hmmm...when rectifier goes bad/(unplugged), good indication is, the battery drains...also, bad rectifier or metal shavings in stator assy, will cause the 5amp to pop..
BTW...if your stator is shot,I have the generating/igniting coils, new still in box/package, if interested...pm me

i took her out for a good 3 hrs and after getting that last lil bit of bad gas out she came back to life,it started up everytime and showed no signs of the batt draining.but the blk/red wire is still unplugged and i had to hook up my own starter button,i'm picking up a new voltage reader tomorow so i can tell for sure but if everything works out i'll have a new cheaper solution to the 5amp curse of the 587...........will post updates
