Hello I have a charging problem with my 89 sp just wondering if the voltage regulator will cause it not to charge i know on my snowmobiles they will burn out and i will start blowing bulbs ie: over charging but havent had one that would not charge any comments greatly appreciated.

yes.........

In your snowmobile, it's obvious the regulator and rectifier are seperate. Blowing bulbs is because your regulator is no longer working and the un-regulated power is so great, it pops the 12 vdc bulbs.

If the rectifier quits working, you'll no longer have power to keep the battery charged or the electrical circuit in working order. Normally, in the Seadoo's, this part is a combined part. The regulator/rectifier is called, the regulator.

Your rectifier will set you back $54 bucks and is part number 278000105. You can find this by using the link at the top of this page on the right hand side. Your purchase helps support the forum and it's easy to use the online data base to have this mailed directly to you.

You can check your local parts distributer for it, but with it's age, chances are, they'll have to order it also. In that case, they'll probably use the same distributer and charge you a "finders fee"............good luck!...

Thanks

Thanks for your help I ordered the part I will let you know how i make out, hopefully good want to bang that ditch banger off some more rocks in the rivers thought the hull would have given out before the charging system but hey cant win the all cheers!
