My windshields aren't looking so good, bad faded and bubble looking spots on them. So I got some carbon fiber vinyl wrap and wrapped them... WOW! It looks better than brand new! I did a little searching and didn't find any tips on that, so I thought I would post this up. For $30 if it only lasts a couple of seasons I will wrap them again.

First..... it would help to put this in the boat section. (I'll move it)

Second..... Pictures?

Oops sorry, where did I put it, in the ski section?

I took a picture with my phone, but it just looked painted(old phone). I will need to get my camera out and charged up for a better picture.

Oh Timmy, You really need to start ducking your head when you walk under that pipe in your garage.

Not really John,
Just asking a question. Since in my boat the WS is about 2 feet high, & I look through it when sitting down.
Granted SD boats have a smaller WS but some watercops may not appreciate the blockage.

it is really more of a wind screen if that even...
I just prepped and painted ours, it`s still looking good...

They're not windshields and not much for wind deflectors either, but the parts manual calls them windshields.
Here are some pictures of it with my phone, I was thinking about painting it, but wrapping was probably easier for me, plus the carbon fiber look gave it some pop!

That came out great!

now get some hydro turf on that boat!

I'm on the fence with the turf, but I may get some for next season, not sure yet. Anything other than white will be hotter than the white floor, I don't think I want white turf. The green trim on the seats will lite your ass up in the sun down here(so a white towel is always handy) and I think I would want green turf as a color preference. So I don't know, thinking about it...

Newbie to the forum here, but I have to ask.....where to find the carbon fiber vinyl to wrap it with? I also like the look of the painted one, so I'll ask that too.....what kind of paint was used to get it to look like that?

I think I got mine off Ebay. It was a cheaper material than I wanted, but it worked out fine, looks great. Looking at doing some dash & throttle trim pieces etc next to match it. You have to use a little heat on it to mold into place.

That looks really nice.. I am planning on either painting mine or doing this very soon. Can you give any more specifics as to brand or thickness that you purchased?

In reply to jaimecbr900 - I also asked Pale Rider this as his paint job on his looks amazing. He responded with:

Paint:

Rustoleum
Universal advanced formula
Metallic Paint & Primer
any surface any angle

It is the paint bottles that have the angled top.

Thank you sir.

I was wondering the same thing because it does look really good. I'm weighing it vs. the wrap since I know both require some delicate work to make them look like both these guys do, but unfortunately for me I'm not the most patient and delicate....lol. I really do want to try one of these methods since both my shields look worn.

I guess my follow up question would be how much prep work, if any, was involved in either method. If there are fine scratches on the windshields already, how could you achieve such a smooth finish with paint?

My son did my wrap, but he is no expert, I just bought the material. If he hadn't wrapped them for me, I would have just removed them and had them done. You could actually get pretty elaborate with the graphics if you have them wrapped, but the price goes up quick.

My wife painted this and it turned out really good. Prep was wiping down with denatured alcohol and then spraying a few coats of the paint. She has not added a clear coat at this time.

Lowe's or Home Depot both have it right next to the paint.

And just to be sure.. Any props or good jobs should go to Pale Rider. I just followed his process and am very happy.

Was not trying to hijack Medoo. Just trying to ensure people have options. Your wrap looks great. This is a forum to help people with their issues. My windscreen looked just like yours prior to anything being changed about it. I considered my options and we decided to go with paint. I also asked you for more information on what you purchased but since I was on a timeframe needed to act prior to getting to the lake this weekend. I'm sorry if you took me giving some information to people asking questions as hijacking your thread.
