Good day all
I found thread that was closed about sound proofing a 180SE, it seems like a nice idea to allow for chatter when cruising in the 30mph range.
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me an approximate sq/ft amount of the dynamat or similar that is needed to sound proof the back end of the challenger boat.

Thanks in advanced

I purchased two sheets from Cascade Audio Engineering. I lucked out as they had a free shipping sale. Comes out of Bend, Oregon - the sales rep I spoke to was great with helping me out (small company so you'll be speaking to the same guy if you call and ask the receptionist for sales on marine deadening). It was enough to fully wrap both seat coolers, the middle engine seat, I put a full length across the hull where your legs/feet are (about 8" x 60" strip if I remember) and the underside of the battery hatch. Still have a few small pieces left over. I also used the aluminum duct tape to seal everything. I ran drain tubing I picked up from home depot (tubing ran to back of boat, you'll see one of them under the ACR), also was tired of water always sitting in the cockpit drain as the drain hole sits higher (stupid design, they changed it in later years). For the cockpit drain, I drilled a small hole and pushed a brass compression sleeve down and used a plastic refrigerator hose to run it to the back.

Noticeable, yes, but not a vast improvement. I knew it wouldn't, but at the same time was kinda hoping that it would be rainbows and purple unicorns quite when I first took it out afterwards, don't expect that! It tones it down a little so anyone sensitive to noise might appreciate it more and spend the money, I'd say the masses would otherwise pass on spending the money. I personally have used too many power tools over the years and have forgotten on many occasion to wear my ear plugs so I've developed tinnitus and figured any improvement was worth it for myself and my family.
