One of the engines on a 99 Challenger is toast. The owner found a good used motor for now and dropped it off last night. However this 787 motor is white / purple and the boats are all silver. I know the engine itself is the same but would the rotary valve need to be changed at all or is it the same in all the motors? Just wondering before I drop this into the boat.

What you have is an early 787,probably a 96, pipe is purple, and the counterbalance cavity is not serviceable, other than that it's the same motor.

Thats what I figured but wanted to double check. Just didnt know if the rotary valve had different timing on a boat - doubtful but I have seen stranger things so I had to ask ;)

Got 1 motor pulled this weekend and found both exhaust pipes have rotted out plugs that will need to be repaired. What is the easiest way to remove the other pipe with the engine still in the boat? Should I take it out in 2 pieces or is it easier to remove as one unit? On the re-install of the motor I have the 2 pipe pieces separated. Whats the best way to install the pipe?

I'd seperate the pipes, way easier to handle and work with. I make the welch plugs if you're interested.
