Wondering if anybody has a good method for removing ropes in impellers as pictures shows. Wondering if problems going forward after removal such as are there any seals which may have been damaged.

If you can not get to the line with a knife, you will need to pull the pump. In most cases, the seals and whatnot do not get hurt.

If you pull it, replace the gear lube if you have not done so already.

I hear you brother.. First weekend in the water first tube ride we sucked into both sides.. Adrift in a rocky Lake on a 20 knot windy day. So I used three things. The most help was a 16 inch hook that I made from a piece of oven rack I had lying around the cottage I also used a Sawzall hacksaw blade mounted into a 10 inch piece of broomstick.. that got 98% of it the last bit I fished out with a 15-inch pair of needle-nose pliers that I got at Princess Auto, those are all zip tied together in my boat toolbox now along with a pair of goggles in case it has to be done at Sea :-)... we did a lot of this my son and I in the water with goggles but it was slow miserable going, much more effective if you can get it out and do it while lying under the trailer

Been there done that, painful lesson for making sure whoever is helping out knows rope management. Had to limp back to shore on 1 engine with boat full of kiddos at a birthday party. Was easier and faster to pull the pump. Was good thing to as the rope had wrapped and melted into the impeller boot which had to be replaced. plus took some time getting the bits of rope stuck in the impeller out. thumbnail_IMG_3786.jpgthumbnail_IMG_3787.jpgthumbnail_IMG_3788.jpg
