Hi all,

I am very new to the boating world and just got my hands on my first boat which is a 2000 Challenger 2000. I have read a lot of mixed opinions about this boat but I guess I'll form my opinion over the next few weeks/months.

I do have a few basic questions, I have looked on various places online but were unsuccessful in finding answers so far...

1. My switches logos have worn off so I have no clue which switch does what. I've got 2 rows of 3 switches. I searched online but was only able to find models with 5 switches and not 6.

2. I am confused as to which compartment does oil go to. There is one on the port side with a cap that says oil which is pretty clear, however there is another big white reservoir right below where I was told oil goes as well. Does one feed the other?

3. Does someone have access to a detailed User manual/Maintenance manual as the one I got with the boat is very vague. I was only able to find one for the speedster online.

Thank you for your input.
Nick

Check out the Sea-Doo's Owner Zone, you will be able to find the operators manual:
I can't post a link - go to sea-doo dot com and select Owner Zone from the menu. You can select your craft on the next screen, on the left menu.

Welcome aboard... you have a great boat and very reliable engine Mercury engine! I have a 2000 Challenger 1800. With regard to your questions:

1. The images that you have found that have 5 switches will be exactly the same as yours, except the extra one that you have was only on the 2000 model year (I have one). It is a shut off switch for the “low gas level warning beep”.

2. The oil fill cap that is on the port side under the rear deck cover, it is clearly marked as “OIL”, it unscrews and it will fill up a 3 gallon reservoir just below it in the engine bay. There is another smaller smaller oil reservoir right on the front of the engine, with a cap, but it is fed from the 3-gallon reservoir... so you don’t need to fill that one.

Yes, there should be a few places online to get Sea-doo owners manuals. But you really need to get a Mercury repair manual for the engine... Bombardier and Mercury kept their manuals separate.
