Hey peeps easy question,

I have a Challenger 180 that was winterized. Went to put the battery back in and cannot figure if this 2-wire harness attaches to the positive or negative battery terminal? It has a thicker black wire and a thinner blue wire. Covered by ribbed plastic wire loom. Picture is attached.

Thanks!

The simple fact that the wires are not RED in color, I would have to think they are a ground. The ONLY way they would not be is if, someone made their own wire harness for something and did not use the traditional color scheme.

Can you trace the wires back to where they are connected?

I can't trace the wires easily as they go into the harness behind it. If anybody has the same boat they can easily look for these 2 colored wires.

You can use a volt Ohm Meter. Test for continuity from the wire to an engine ground. I would suspect there will be Zero resistance. If so, it is a ground.

Black is never used as positive so I vote for ground too. BTW, it's usual practice at least to wrap red tape around a battery positive lead ring terminal. To avoid this kind of confusion it's always best to also attach the wire to the correct polarity battery cable using tape or a zip tie about 6 inches back from the terminal lug.
