Happy new year to every one

I was wondering how long is it ok to run an engine out of water?

I have often run them in the passed in the cooler months for 5 mins or so just to give them a quick run but today i noticed that this challenger seemed to have got a little warm in just over a minute and then the check engine light came on so I shut it Down straight away. Have only had the challenger for a few months it is an 06 model

A couple minutes on a closed loop engine should be fine. That is… as long as the cooling system is working properly.

That is what I thought too

Are there any checks I can do to see if the cooling system is working?

A quick test would to see how quick the ride plate warms up.

But, as long as the over temp beeper isn’t making noise… you are fine.
