Has any one drove both challengers is the 255 that much different I drove a 215 and it seemed to be working very hard. I had a speedster 150 with the 215 and that was about right as long as you didn't have 4 adults in it. I was thing since the 155 all the way up to 255 is the same engine is that pushing the engine design to the limit. I know all about the S/C issues and maint requirements. Is the 255 any less reliable thanks....

Interesting, I have an RXT 215 and a Challenger with the 215. I never felt my Challenger was working hard. I honestly feel like you can run that boat at 40MPH and it can take it. However I don't as I am cheap on gas and my own lake will pound me into submission.

I do brief stints up to 40MPH and I love it.

If that's gps speed, u drove one with issues. If it's what the boat says, you have no idea really as the gauge can be high or low by 10mph. Rpm is low though by 500ish.

Bad gas/old gas/not running 91 plus octane. Oil overfilled. Fuel filter getting clogged. Impeller in rough shape.

There are a lot of variables to limit speed. Let us know if that was a GPS speed ( I used my phone to get my speed ).

RPM gauges are usually accurate while paddle speedometers are awful.

Basically the pump needs to be perfect and it will allow that RPM to max out. So what pvamx said.

Thanks for everyone's help I'm on my way to buy a 2007 Sea-doo challenger 180 wake tower in N.C. It has 22 hr on it. I'm going to change oil sparkplugs and get S/C rebuilt do to time it works fine. For reliability I'm going to put Yamaha stickers on it
