I just purchased a used 2005 Sea Doo GTX. It runs well at slow speed, but won't plane out. The engine revs, but maximum speed is 9 MPH. I think I sucked up a piece of ski rope at the doc. Could this be causing the cavitation? Any way I can get the rope out myself, or will I have to take it to the shop?
Thanks.

cavitation - rope on impeller shaft

Thanks for the advice. I put the PWC on the trailer, got under, and found a rope wrapped around the shaft. I removed the guard plate and cut the rope off -- took about an hour. Now I'll try the ski at high speed. Thanks again for your quick reply.
