so I take my boat off the trailer and I have nothing but cavitation issues.
Took my jet pump apart and I think I found the problem. image2.JPG

Yep. That would do it for sure.

Dings aren't a big deal as you simply file them smooth, but you impeller looks to be bent as well. A bent impeller will normally have pretty serious performance issues.

New wear ring and impeller. Keep three feet of water under you keel.

Checked to see if it was bent. And all looks good. Gonna file it smooth and rebuild the impeller over the winter. Plan on having a spare jet pump fully set up for when this happens again. Ruined my weekend. As for three feet of water was In about 6 feet of water before I hit the throttle and then ended up in a shallow spot all of a sudden.

You'll doing the hard way! bite the bullet and replace the wear ring and impeller and service the pump. that way you only have to pull the pump once, if you try and rebuild and file, there is no way of telling if has been a waste of time until you try in the water.
no need for a whole pump spare, just a wear ring and careful boating. (most of us have done this before, learning experience for us all).

Happened to me last summer. After removing the rock, boat ran fine, but over the winter I replaced the wear ring and sent the impeller to Impros.com for a touch up. Works fine now. Bought the wear ring from Impros.

It's gonna be expensive yes. But there is times im hours away from home to go boating so to have this happen again would ruin a day especially if it were to happen early in the day and to bring just a pump and basically very little in tools. Seems to me to be a quick let's fix and get back on the water. Mind you this is the first time in 3 years this happens. Also curious what are the top speeds are you guys getting with the 180 with the 260 engine. I find I have lost a lot of speed since new. Could break 50mph easy with two adults and now I have a hard time hitting 45 with only myself in the boat

I Would be comfortable having a spare pump ready to go. Consider it "insurance". You may not need it, but if you do,,,,

Not cheap, but worth it.

Wow, that is crazy. I was wondering what cavitation would look like and now I know...probably on the worse case side of things. I looked in my grate the other day and I didn't see any chips or dents at all. Quick side question, what do I need to look for to tell if the wear ring is bad?

dont worry about it, you will know when the cavitation happens.
can be something stuck inside the pump or wear ring has grooves or gap to impeller.

Something as small as a twig or seaweed can cause cavitaition issues...

Yes any little thing in there will cause cavitation - I once took mine back to the dealer 500km away for cavitation and the 10 hour warrantee check and oil change - 500km back to the lake and my marina and it still cavitated! Local marina mechanic pulled out a small stick and problem cured. My first, but not last, experience with (trained?) but incompetent Sea Doo dealer mechanics. I expect just removing the rocks will cure the cavitation but it looks like the wear ring has received a beating so best to replace it. For those wondering if wear ring is bad, it is just a case of minimal clearance between the blades and the wear ring. A shop manual will provide better info. If it goes good don't worry about the ring, however if doing any work on it a wear ring replacement doesn't cost much so best to replace it when convenient.
